My sister in writing, drawing, and artist dads, Nikki Tate, recently asked an interesting question in her Substack,

I had trouble with this question, and not just because I try to be a stay-in-the-present-moment person1.I don’t miss childhood. That was fraught with bullies, mean teachers, and liver for dinner. (Mom’s a great cook, but she’s not a miracle worker.) There were good things, too, like the kind teachers, summers with my grandparents at the shore, and Friday nights spent eating TV dinners while watching The Brady Bunch. But would I go back to any age in childhood if I could? No.
Then I saw a difference in wording. Childhood was fraught. The Child Self, though, the kid version of me… She was on to something.
