Welcome friends new and old! Please click the little heart to say hi :)
Spring is here, with colors that can only be seen in this season. The deep purple of hyacinths, light pink and white cherry blossoms, all the vibrant greens. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but there’s always one that really speaks to us.
I used to be a pink cherry blossom person, every year. This spring, I started noticing a different color—a light vanilla yellow.
I saw it first in an ad for a notebook. Then, my friend Koosje Koene posted a picture of houses in Oslo, Norway in the same color. Then I remembered that I had two skeins of yarn in about that color, but with added pops of pink, blue, and other vibrant colors. (That’s another benefit to having a yarn stash—you can always find the color you want!)

Working with this color brings me a lot of joy. Much has been written about how color affects our mood, and I think this is another reason people find knitting so meditative. We naturally gravitate toward colors that lift our spirits, infuse us with a feeling of joy, and ease our minds. I think of knitting as a form of self-care for many reasons, and working with colors that make us feel good is another one to add to the ever-growing list.
What’s your color for spring, and what are you making with it? Leave a comment!
medKNITation on MDK
The recent medKNITation workshop on Modern Daily Knitting was such a wonderful experience, with over 300 knitters gathering to knit and meditate together live, and a total of around 700 of us tuning in at various times! And guess what: my friends at MDK and I are talking about doing this again! Stay tuned for news on that.
In the meantime, in a rare move for workshops, MDK is keeping the medKNITation workshop available to anyone who didn’t get a chance to participate live. You can check out the workshop on Modern Daily Knitting’s site here. Learn the steps that will turn your knitting into a meditation, making your knitting an even more wonderful part of your day, and your life.
